General Manager and Director of Tennis Chris Pearson, USPTA Coach Pearson enters his first season at the helm of Islamorada Tennis Club. Pearson has a distinguished career in the tennis industry. He comes to Islamorada from the Country Club of Lansing, MI (Summer) and the City of Winter Springs, FL (Winter). Serving as director of tennis at both locations. Pearson is a business school graduate of Michigan State University holding a logistics degree from a program that is perennially ranked 1st or 2nd in the nation. Pearson competed and lettered for the Spartan tennis team. Prior Coaching experience includes: Assistant coach at Michigan State University for the Men's tennis team. During his service at MSU the men's tennis team achieved its highest national ranking to date. Assistant coach for the Men's and Women's tennis teams at the University of Central Florida. Head Coach for the boy's tennis team (nine seasons) at Lansing Catholic Central High School. Highlights included: 2nd place team finish for team in the state tournament and several individual state champions. Director of Tennis, City of East Lansing, MI - developed and coached numerous nationally ranked junior players, NCAA scholarship student/athletes, and ITA Academic All-Americans, including a member of the 2006 NCAA Division I National Champions. Staff Professional Chuck Nihart, USPTA Coach Chuck brings a strong love and passion for the game of tennis to Islamorada Tennis Club. Nihart is a USPTA Qualified instructor and began his tennis teaching career after retiring in 2000. Nihart is a retired CPA and a college of Business Graduate of Michigan State University. Nihart is a certified USTA official Prior Coaching experience includes: Nihart serves as a tennis instructor at the Country Club of Lansing in the summer and previous taught for the City of East Lansing. He has also served as an assistant tennis professional at Cheeca Lodge. Playing experience includes: Member of USTA 4.0 travel team, winning three state titles and one sectional title. Participated in 1993 USTA 4.0 travel team National Championships.
Staff Professional Richard Lorenzo, USPTA Richard comes to us from Marathon with 17 years of instructional experience in the tennis industry. He has degrees from Franklin Institute of Boston (A.S.E.E) and Lowell Technological Institute (MA). Richard's background in electrical engineering includes serving as an engineer and a sales and marketing engineer. Prior experience includes: Assistant teaching professional at Sombrero Country Club in Marathon, FL. Director of tennis, Killington School for Tennis in Vermont. Director of tennis: City of Rutlando, VT Teaching Professional in Weston, CT and The Complete Player Institute in Boca Raton, FL
